Many times I’ve been asked is it easy to learn what is affiliate marketing all about and how does it fit into the whole make money online system? Basically affiliate marketing is a way for you to make money online by promoting millions of products and services through affiliate programs. Now, I’m sure that you are wondering what an affiliate program is?

In short an affiliate program is basically an automated technology that allows you to promote services or products for other companies. Your main goal as an affiliate marketer is to drive traffic to the company’s website and if someone buys something, you will earn a commission. The commission that you receive because of someone buying a product that you have recommended varies depending on the program that you were promoting. Your commission could sometimes run between 1% and 75% – it all depends.

You might be surprised but many people do make a full-time living with their online businesses as affiliate marketers.

I am one of those people, but my online income is diversified. I’ve always believed in the old adage “never keep all your eggs in one basket”. When I first decided to work online I knew that if I was going to do this as a full time career, and basically quit my day job, I would have to figure out a way to safe guard my online career.

So I decided that it would be beneficial to set up a diversified portfolio of online money making opportunities. So if one failed (which believe me they do)than there would always be other income coming in. I set myself up with a 10 year plan so that I could achieve my goal of retiring comfortably off my passive income.

I know 10 years sounds like an awful long time but in the BIG PICTURE it’s like a blink of an eye. (I’ll discuss more about diversifying your online making making opportunities in future posts)

But first of all as a beginner or newbie to making money online it would be best if you started out small by learning everything you can about building your website, writing content, and getting an audience or easier said visitors to your website.

So it is more beneficial for you to take the time to learn the whole process of what affiliate marketing is and how affiliate marketing works. Once you have one website up and you are starting to see some income trickling in than you can rinse and repeat, but only if you are comfortable working on more than one site at a time. (trust me in the beginning, everything seems a bit overwhelming, sometimes even confusing but it does get easier and you will be surprised at how much fun it can be once you get the hang of it)

Once you figure out the process of building a website, putting content onto your website, and than how to drive traffic to your website – the next step in this process would be to make money from all the work that you have done on your website.

In other words you would want to think of ways to monetize your website. Once you’re getting traffic to your website and you have an audience, now you need an effective way of monetizing your website and a way of making money off of it.

One of the most effective ways of making money from your website is through affiliate marketing. Mind you, that this is the not the only way to make money from your  website but in the beginning affiliate marketing is one of the easiest and most effective ways to monetize your website.
